Quick update on an awesome little bit of success for my game dev group, XMPT Games...
We went along to the Eurogamer Rezzed game conference again this year, and took part in the game jam. Six teams were given 8 hours to develop a game from scratch, and we only got told the theme on the morning just before we began making it. The game we created, "Personal Space Invaders", was a 4-player arena combat hugging simulator ;D
The next day we presented what we'd made, streamed live to the internet via the Eurogamer website, and judged by awesome people like Mike Bithell (Thomas Was Alone), Dean Hall (Day Z), and Martyn from the Yogscast!... And we won the game jam
We'll be releasing the game for free download on our website soon - I'll let you know when it's available. Despite being a massive rush to get it done in 8 hours, we still had a blast playing it against each other and the other guys at the expo, and hopefully more people will be able to enjoy it once we put it up on the website. (It will run on PC, Mac or Linux, but you'll need 4 players in the same room and 4 gamepads to enjoy it - it's just not possible to write network multiplayer code in 8 hours - though we might add it later if there's anough demand!).
Here's the video of the game jam presentations (ours starts at around 31:15, and I'm the guy who talks first for our team) - check out the giant on-stage hug we got going at the end when we were announced as the winners too www.twitch.tv/egx/c/3985796
